Nutrabay Pure Pea Protein Isolate — Review

Product Review

Nutrabay Pure 100% Pea Protein Isolate

Honest take after finishing one full tub — taste, mixability, nutrition, and value.

If you've been going back and forth between whey and a plant option because of bloating, lactose issues, or just wanting to try vegan, this is the one I ended up settling on for a couple of months. Here's the real experience, no sugar-coating.

Taste & Mixability

I went with the unflavoured version, and let's be clear — "unflavoured" pea protein is not neutral, it has that slightly earthy, beany taste plant proteins are known for. On its own with water it's drinkable but not exciting. Mixed into a banana–peanut butter–milk shake, it disappears completely — that's genuinely the best way to have it. Mixability is decent, not whey-level smooth — you'll get a bit of frothing in a shaker, and a few tiny clumps if you dump the powder in before the liquid. Pour liquid first, powder after — that trick actually works.

Nutrition

Each 33g scoop gives 25.3g protein with about 5g BCAAs, and it's a complete amino acid profile (pea protein is naturally strong in the essential aminos, just a touch lower in methionine than whey). Compared to whey concentrate, it's slightly less protein-dense gram for gram, but for a soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free option, this is one of the higher-yield ones I've used.

Purity

Label reads clean — no added sugar, no artificial colour, no amino spiking, no fillers. Single ingredient. That transparency is the actual selling point here.

Performance

Digests easily, no bloating for me, and it keeps you fuller longer than whey does — good if you're also trying to manage appetite. Recovery-wise, I didn't notice a dip in soreness recovery versus whey, but I wasn't running a controlled comparison either.

Texture

Medium-thick, slightly gritty rather than silky. Not chalky, just not whey-smooth.

Value

The 1kg tub gets you 30 servings, listed around ₹899–999 on Nutrabay's own site (MRP ~₹1,109), and it's priced well below most whey isolates and several plant competitors — solid bang for buck.

Best For

Vegans, lactose-intolerant folks, and anyone wanting a clean label over flavour excitement.

Would I rebuy? Yes — but I'd get the flavoured Gold variant next time for the taste, and keep this unflavoured one for cooking/baking into meals where flavour doesn't matter.
